October Updates from Effective Altruism Turkey
Health Progress Hub, founded by Berke Çelik from the Bulletin team within the Global Policy Research Group; It aims to serve as a bridge between students and professionals in low- and middle-income countries and effective health policy organizations to accelerate the solution of important but neglected public health problems. In the 10-week pilot program, which is open to applications from all over the world, participants will receive both theoretical training and the opportunity to gain experience with projects they will carry out with institutions such as Fortify Health and Lead Exposure Elimination Project. Health Progress Hub - How Can You Support?

1) Global Challenges Project - Existential Risks Workshop
Global Challenges Project is organizing an existential risk workshop for students in Oxford between 6-9 December. In this workshop, you can explore the existential risks facing humanity, learn from professionals working in relevant fields, and get important advice about your career. The program also provides financial support and visa sponsorship for those accepted.

2) EAGx Virtual 2024
EAGxVirtual 2024 will be held between 15-17 November this year. This free online conference offers a great opportunity for those who want to learn more about EA and connect with the global community. The event will include content that offers practical solutions for participants around the world, a career fair where you can meet organizations working in the EA field, a mentoring program, one-on-one virtual meetings via the Swapcard application, and sessions and meetings suitable for different time zones.

3) Effective Altruism Online Programs - “The Precipice” Reading Group
The book “The Precipice” discusses the major risks facing humanity, such as nuclear weapons, climate change, engineered pandemics, and out-of-control artificial intelligence. By joining this 8-week online reading group, you can deepen your understanding of protecting humanity’s future and learn how to respond to these dangers.

In this free, 8-week online program that anyone from anywhere in the world can attend, you can take a more comprehensive look at effective altruism, reflect on complex questions such as ethical values and the risk of human extinction, and learn about career opportunities in this field.

6) Organizer Support Program (OSP)
The Organizer Support Program (or OSP) offers EA university group organizers a three-week mentoring opportunity to best prepare for their term (ongoing mentoring is also available throughout the term). The program provides regular meetings with experienced mentors, workshops and useful resources needed to manage an effective group.

7) Online AI Safety Camp
This 3-month online program offers participants the opportunity to work together in teams on predetermined projects. If you have a project idea and some research experience in the field of AI Safety, you can also apply as a Research Leader, choose your team and implement the project together. Throughout the program, you will receive support in project development and will be able to examine AI Safety issues in depth with your team.

8) Online Animal Advocacy Introductory Course
This online course aims to show you why animal suffering is a major problem and how you can do more to help them. It provides the opportunity to explore career options that may be effective for animals, create a career plan, and take steps to implement this plan. You can also join a community where you can meet like-minded people and receive a certificate at the end of the course. How long you want to finish the course is entirely up to you.
